D.C.M. London Gazette 9 July 1917. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has consistently performed good work, especially under fire, and has set a fine example to all those under him’.

Reginald Mullett was born in Bowerchalk, Salisbury, Wiltshire. A Farm Worker by occupation, he attested for service in the Royal Sussex Regiment on 8 January 1896, aged 18 years, 3 months, having served in the 3rd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment. He served overseas with the 2nd Battalion in India, November 1897-December 1902, during which time he saw active service on the N.W. Frontier; and was then in Malta, June 1904-May 1905 and Crete, April 1905-March 1907. With the start of the Great War he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war as a Sergeant with the 8th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment on 24 July 1915. He was promoted to Warrant Officer 2nd Class and appointed Company Sergeant-Major on 10 September 1916. For his wartime services he was mentioned in despatches and awarded the D.C.M. Mullett was discharged on 23 February 1919. Sold with framed M.I.D. Certificate, copied service papers and Royal Sussex Regiment cap badge.
