Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen (3443 Pte. C. Walker, Bedford Regt.) good very fine £200-250

Charles Walker was born in the Parish of West Mill, Buntingford, Hertfordshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for service in the Bedfordshire Regiment on 6 January 1890, aged 18 years, 10 months. He was discharged to the Army Reserve in 1897 but recalled to Army service in December 1899. With the Bedfordshire Regiment Mounted Infantry he served in South Africa and was severely wounded near Reitz (on published roll, ‘Graspen’ on service papers), 6 June 1901. Private Walker was discharged medically unfit on 20 June 1902. Sold with copied service papers and some research.
