Alexander Reid was born on 2 October 1863, the son of Thomas Reid of Hampstead and was educated at Highgate School. He served in the Boer War in 1900; was mentioned in despatches, received the Queen’s medal with four clasps and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order. He was awarded the Volunteer Officers’ Decoration (London Gazette 27 April 1906) as a Major and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the 1st V.B. Middlesex Regiment. In the Great War he served in France and Flanders and was mentioned in despatches. He served as an officer with the 20th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, 18th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, 37th Labour Group and was sometime commander of the P.O.W. Camp at Queensferry, Chester. Lieutenant-Colonel Reid died on 25 February 1927. Sold with copied research.
