Dublin, Royal College of Science for Ireland, a silver medal after W. Wyon, coroneted bust of Victoria left, rev. crowned harp above legend, all in wreath, edge named (John A. Cunningham, Session 1896-97), 39mm (BHM 2880). About extremely fine, very rare in silver (£70-90)

The Royal College of Science for Ireland was created as a result of a decision of HM Treasury in 1865 to merge a number of science-oriented education bodies, including the Museum of Irish Industry and the Government School of Science applied to Mining and the Arts. The College, opened in September 1867, was originally based at 51 St Stephen's Green but moved in the early 20th century to Merrion street
