A variation 1796 pattern light cavalry officer's sword of the 6th. Bengal Light Cavalry circa 1820, the curved flat solid 87cm blade back-edged for the last 30cm, remains of decoration including clear IV BLC, steel stirrup guard ball quillon elongated pommel, the ferrule secured by a screw, oval langets, fish-skin covered grip bound with twisted silver wire, complete with its steel scabbard of flattened diamond section having two reeded bands with hanging rings, minor wear overall £450-500
The 6th. Bengal Light Cavalry were raised in 1800 as the 6th. Bengal Native Cavalry, becoming the 6th. Bengal Light Cavalry in 1819.
