Second Reading CC Auction, 7 November 1979
Third bt D. Perry September 1998.

Edward Reece (†1887) arrived from England in August 1855 and first set up in business in Lyttelton in 1856; he later opened businesses in Christchurch and Fiji and served as a municipal councillor for Christchurch for many years. David Clarkson and Richard Turnbull (†July 1890) established an ironmongery business on the corner of Main South road and George street in 1863 but their premises were destroyed by fire in December 1868; their token shows the projected breakwater at Timaru harbour, construction of which did not begin until March 1879
