Angola, Owambo Tribe, an elephant ivory Ekipas button, decorated around the edge with geometric patterns, 70 x 75mm, pierced on reverse for attaching to clothes. Very good condition (£60-80)

Although these buttons were used as decoration for clothing, it is suggested that they were used as currency when trading with the Kwanyama tribe
