Having enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1945, and re-enlisted in the Parachute Regiment in 1961, Hookway served with 2 Para. in the Borneo operations. According to the vendor, a photograph of Corporal Hookaway appears in the Pegasus journal on the occasion of his winning a Hillman Imp car in a competition. A copy of this photograph, however, is not included with the lot.
