Charles Herbert Day was born in Dover, Kent. A Baker by occupation, he attested for the Corps of Hussars at Camberley, 5 April 1899, aged 18 years, 5 months. Posted to the 18th Hussars, he served in South Africa from May 1900 to March 1901. He was discharged as medically unfit on 17 April 1902. Sold with copied service papers. A note with the lot states issued with Cape Colony and Orange Free State clasps in March 1905.
