Captain C. C. B. Tew was severely wounded on 27 February 1900, during the attack on Terrace Hill, north of the Tugela, in Natal. In the same attack Captain C. Mansel-Jones, of the same regiment, was also severely wounded and subsequently awarded the Victoria Cross. Tew and Mansel-Jones were the only Captains and the most senior officers of the West Yorkshire Regiment to be wounded in this action. Sold with further research.
