Arthur Day was born in Newark, Nottinghamshire. A Labourer by occupation he attested for service with the 4th Battalion (Militia) Sherwood Forresters on 12 December 1894. Serving in South Africa, he was taken prisoner at Roodeval, 7 June 1900 but later released. He was discharged in December 1900 on the termination of his period of engagement. Sold with some copied research. Note: listed as ‘J. Day’ in published casualty roll.
