John Finch, who was born in Bolton, Lancashire, but was resident at Droylsden, Manchester on his enlistment, was killed in action at Guillemont on the Somme on 3 September 1916, while serving in the 10th Battalion, Rifle Brigade. He was 26 years of age, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
