Robert Thomas Hoefner, who was born in Stepney, Middlesex, but resident at East Ham, Essex on his enlistment, was killed in action in France on 6 March 1917. Aged 24 years, he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial on the Somme.
