Joseph Frith was born in the Parish of Hyde, Cheshire. A Foundry Striker by occupation, he attested for service in the Artillery at Oldham on 25 February 1858, aged 19 years. He was discharged at Woolwich on 31 May 1879, having three times been tried by court martial. His intended place of residence being Wilkins Row, Portwood, Stockport. Sold with copied discharge papers and summary of service.
