Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 3 clasps, Alexandria 11th July, The Nile 1884-85, Kirbekan (F. J. Weymouth, A.B. H.M.S. “Invincible”) pitting, otherwise very fine and extremely rare £1200-1500

One of only 13 Kirbekan clasps to the Royal Navy.

Frederick James Weymouth was born in the Parish of St Andrews, Plymouth, on 21 November 1858, and joined the Royal Navy on 27 May 1874. He served at Alexandria as an Able Seaman aboard Invincible in July 1882, and on the books of Monarch with the Nile Flotilla in 1884-85, by which time he was rated 2nd Captain of the Foretop. He was one of only 12 naval ratings, under Lieutenant W. Bourke, R.N., who were present at the battle of Kirbekan. He became a Petty Officer 1st Class in March 1886, received his L.S. & G.C. medal in August 1890 whilst serving in Hyacinth, and continued in the service until 22 October 1896.
