In the 1882 operations Commander Boyle Purdon Creagh was in command of Tenasserim, which received 138 medals (16 officers and 122 native crew), one of two Indian Government Steamers present; the other was Amberwitch which received 82 medals. In the Suakin operations of 1885 Creagh was in command of Canning, a troopship of the Bombay Marine.
