3 officers and 44 other ranks of the 10th Hussars served in the Light Camel Regiment on the Nile. One officer and one private were also present at Abu Klea.

John Lyon was born in Edinburgh and enlisted into the 10th Hussars at Brighton on 11 February 1882, a clerk by profession, aged 19. He served in the Soudan on the Nile Expedition from September 1884 to April 1885, and otherwise at Home. He transferred to the Army Reserve in August 1889 and was discharged on 10 February 1894. Sold with copy discharge papers.
