Only 2 men, Sergeants T. Carrol and H. Williams, of the Gloucestershire Regiment served on the Nile Expedition with the Egyptian Army.
Henry Williams enlisted in the Gloucestershire Regiment on 8 February 1881, and was discharged on 30 September 1908. He was appointed Quartermaster in the Manchester Regiment on 4 November 1916, but did not serve overseas and resigned his commission on account of disability on 30 June 1917. The Lot is also sold with his grand-daughter’s certificate of service for 1939-45.
