Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, 2 clasps, The Nile 1884-85, Abu Klea (1548 Pte. G. Maltley, 1/K.R. Rif. C.) edge bruising and pitting from star, otherwise nearly very fine £600-700

1 officer and 25 other ranks of the 1st King’s Royal Rifle Corps served on the Nile in the Mounted Infantry Camel Regiment, of whom the officer and 12 other ranks fought at Abu Klea.

Isaac Maltby (Maltley on roll and medal) was born at Seaton, near Hornsea, Yorkshire, and enlisted into the King’s Royal Rifle Corps at Beverley on 11 January 1884, aged 23 years 10 months with previous service in the East Yorkshire Militia. He served in Egypt from August 1884 to July 1885, on the ‘Nile 1884-5, including the desert march, battles of Abu Klea, Gubat and subsequent operations’. He was discharged at Gosport on 15 April 1900. Sold with copy discharge papers.
