Wilmslow District Memorial Plaque, circular base metal plaque, 160mm. dia., inscribed, ‘Pte. Thmas Burgess 8th C.R. who died for his King and Country in the Great War’, mounted on a wooden wall shield, 240 x 223mm., good condition £70-90

Thomas Burgess was born in Wilmslow, Cheshire and enlisted at Manchester. Serving with the 8th Battalion Cheshire Regiment, he died on 13 January 1917. He was buried in the Amara War Cemetery, Iraq. Sold with copied newspaper extracts relating to the death of Thomas Burgess and the creation of the Wilmslow Memorial Plaque.
