William Norton Noakes was born in Maidstone on 6 May 1893. A Hairdresser by occupation, enlisted into the 16th Battalion London Regiment on 29 February 1916 and entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 7 September 1916. On 10 October the same year he was wounded in action, suffering a gunshot wound to the right thigh and right hand. Invalided to England he recovered from his wounds and on 7 September 1917 was accepted as an Officer Cadet, being commissioned into the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 18 December 1917. Whilst attached to the 9th Battalion London Regiment he again received a gunshot wound - causing fractures to the femure and was invalided to England in December 1918. Sold with copied service papers.

Loraine May was born in Bromley Common on 4 September 1883. A Clerk by occupation, he attested for service with the 24th Battalion London Regiment on 23 June 1916, having previously served in the Royal Garrison Artillery. With the 24th Battalion he served in France/Flanders, October 1916-January 1917. Returning home he was discharged to a commission in the 20th Battalion on 26 March 1918. Again in France, he was wounded on 27 August 1918 - receiving a gunshot wound to the jaw, for which he was invalided to England. May was promoted to Lieutenant in September 1919.
