Edward Carington Adams was born in Hampstead on 17 January 1896. Educated at Cheltenham College, he was employed as an Articled Clerk and Law Student. He was commissioned into the 20th Battalion London Regiment in October 1914. Serving in France, he was killed in action at the battle of Loos, 25 September 1915, aged 19 years. Adams was buried in the Loos British Cemetery. He was the son of Ernest Edward and Edith Mary Adams of St. Ermins, Westminster, London. Sold with copied papers. Also copied extracts from ‘The Diary of 2nd Lieut. Robert Peyton Hamilton- 1915’, in which Adams, a fellow officer, is several times mentioned.

Edmund Burley was born in Canterbury, Kent. A Student-Teacher by occupation, he attested for service with the 20th Battalion London Regiment at New Cross in November 1913. He was embodied on 5 August 1914 and entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 9 March 1915. He was commissioned into the Royal Fusiliers on 24 April 1917. Entitled to the 1914-15 Star and Silver War Badge. Sold with copied service papers and m.i.c.

Thomas Garland was born on 21 December 1892 and was educated at Colfes Grammar School. An Analyst by occupation, he enlisted into the 20th Battalion London Regiment on 10 August 1914 and proceeded to France on 9 March 1915. In July 1915, being discharged from the London Regiment, he re-attested for the Royal Engineers, being promoted to C.S.M. in December 1916. Garland received a commission in the 3rd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment in early 1918. Sold with copied service papers, photograph and m.i.c.
