William Joseph Plaskett was born in Landport, Portsmouth in January 1849 and appears to have entered the Royal Navy as a Yeoman of the Stores in January 1870. Awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in April 1880, he served as an Armourer in H.M.S. Penelope (December 1880 to January 1883), and was pensioned ashore in the same rate in December 1894; sold with a file of research, including copied service record.
