Thomas Wynn was born on 2 May 1889 at Inverkeithing, Fife. He first served in France on 13 August 1914 with the 1st Battalion, Royal Highlanders. By September 1915 he was serving with the 2nd Battalion and had been promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal. He is mentioned by name for his part in the Battle of Loos as being ‘[one] of the regimental bombers on whom so much desperate close fighting fell’. No doubt it was for his gallantry in this capacity that he was awarded his Wauchope Medal. This medal was presented to him at a muster parade held on 11 November 1915.
Thomas Wynn was tragically killed in 1942 whilst cycling home from work when he was knocked down by a bus. Sold with a comprehensive file of copied research material.
