John M. Cupples was born in New Monkland, Lanarkshire and enlisted at Airdrie. Serving with the 10th/11th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 12 May 1915. With them he was awarded the Military Medal for bravery. He died on 6 March 1918, aged 26 years and was buried at the Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery, Arras. He was the son of Mrs Jessie Cupples of 19 Quarry Road, Airdrie. Sold with copied m.i.c. (which states ‘K.I.A.’) and a quantity of other copied research.
