Auction Catalogue
the hunters’ improvement and light horse breeding society, silver prize medals (2), by Mappin & Webb, awarded to Lord Digby, 1935 and 1936 for “7977 Baby Austin” and “8802 Austin Seven” respectively, 44mm, matt finish, with integral suspender and loop, both in cases of issue. Mint state (£40-60)
Lord Digby’s choice of names indicates a whimsical sense of humour, presumably indicating his horses could run as fast as the Austin Seven, one of the popular cars of the nineteen thirties.
