M.V.O. London Gazette 2 June 1923

Henry John Thomas Joist, who was born in Hoxton Old Town, Shoreditch in January 1862, joined the Lord Chamberlain’s Office as a Clerk in 1902, shortly afterwards being appointed an Accountant. On his retirement in 1923, he was awarded the M.V.O., 5th Class, which distinction he received at a Buckingham Palace investiture held in July of the same year - his additional Coronation and Jubilee awards are confirmed by official records. Joist died in Worthing, Sussex in January 1940, aged 78 years

Sold with original Buckingham Palace letter of notification for the award of the recipient’s M.V.O. (dated 30 May 1923), together with related forwarding letter and warrant, and Buckingham Palace investiture letters.
