Creased and with three small snicks in edge, the legend flat in places, otherwise about very fine with a good portrait, extremely rare; no coins of this type recorded for the mint £1,200-1,500
Provenance: Found near Northampton.
Harris (SCMB 1985 p. 149ff) records no coins of BMC types III, IV, V and VIII for Lincoln; he gives Godric as a Lincoln moneyer for types II, X, then XII to XV and into Stephen’s reign; a unique [?] coin of type VI is also known (Mossop 11)
