A good Georgian Irish volunteer officer’s sword, by Brady of Dublin, the 70cm deeply curved flat solid section blade, back-edged for the last 24cm with blued and gilt decoration including stands of arms, victory etc., all amid foliate sprays and wreaths, the blade retaining around 60% of its finish, copper-gilt hilt with ornate knucklebow, the quillon terminating in a scrolling acanthus leaf, the langets cast and deeply chased again with acanthus leaf decoration, lions head pommel and facetted back-strap, ribbed single piece polished ebony grip bound with copper wire, complete with its copper-gilt scabbard with two hanging rings, the top engraved with the retailers name, ‘Brady’s, Dame Street, Dublin’ old split to ebony grip and some rubbing and wear to the gilding, otherwise good condition and an attractive sword £600-800
