Driver James McEvoy, who was from Sunderland, joined the Royal Field Artillery and was attached to X/37 Medium Trench Mortar Battery. This was a 37th Divisional Artillery unit equipped with six 6 inch Newton Mortars. The ‘Remarks’ section of his m.i.c. bears the single word, ‘Deserted’. With copied research.
