Ex Glendining March 1934.

Charles Stone enlisted for 7 years ‘short’ service and joined the 23rd Light Dragoons on 7 April 1804. After their calamitous charge at Talavera when most of the regiment fell headlong into a deep watercourse concealed by long grass, with a loss of some 100 killed or wounded and a similar figure taken prisoner, the 23rd were of little value as a fighting unit and had to return home to recruit. Sold with some details.
