Pair: Private W. Hill, 91st Foot, who was severely wounded at Toulouse

Foot), with original steel clip and ring suspension, one letter of surname obscured on the first, both with edge bruising and polished and thus fine or better (2) £3500-4000

Walter Hill, a native of Forfar, enlisted in the 91st Foot in May 1811 and, having been embarked for Spain, was present in the Pyrenees operations and at Nivelle, Nive and Orthes. So, too, at Toulouse on 10 April 1814, when, as confirmed by his discharge papers, he was severely wounded by a gunshot to his right shoulder and left arm - the original medal roll reveals his entitlement to the Toulouse clasp being refused, the remarks column stating ‘sick, rear’. Notwithstanding his wounds, Hill was subsequently present at Waterloo as a member of Captain J. C. Murdoch’s Company, and was finally discharged in August 1816; sold with copied service record and medal roll extracts.
