Robert Pielow was born in St, Luke’s, Co. Cork and enlisted at Cork. Serving as a Sapper in the Inland Water Transport, Royal Engineers, he died on 24 July 1917, aged 33 years. Buried at sea, his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial. He was the son of Robert and Catherine Pielow of 5 Patrick Hill, Cork, and husband of Hanora Pielow of 108 Dillon’s Cross, Cork. Name listed as ‘Peilow’ in C.W.G.C. website.
