Crimea 1854-56, 3 clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Sebastopol (2244 Edward Lock (sic), 42 Royal Highlanders) privately engraved; China 1857-60, 2 clasps, Taku Forts 1860, Pekin 1860 (Edwd. Locke, 1st Bn. Mil. Train) officially impressed naming, original multicoloured ribbon; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (409 Edwd. Locke, Mily. Train); Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, unnamed, plugged and fitted with ‘China 1857-60’style suspension, first two with contact marks, good fine; others very fine and better (4) £450-500
Edward Locke attested for the 42nd Highlanders at Newport, Hampshire, on 23 April 1844, aged 15 years, eight months. He transferred to the Military Train in November 1856 and served abroad in Malta, Bermuda, Nova Scotia, the Crimea and China. He was discharged on 29 July 1869 having completed his period of service. With copied discharge papers.
