James Snook was born in Dinton, Wiltshire, lived at Barford St. Martin, Wiltshire, and enlisted at Andover, Hampshire. Serving in the 1st Battalion Hampshire Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war. Later, in the 2nd Battalion, he was killed in action on 9 August 1916, aged 33 years. He was buried in the Pozijze Burial Ground Cemetery, Ieper, Belgium. He was the son of James and Elizabeth Snook of Barford St. Martin, Salisbury. With an unrelated identity disk.
