Edwin Lawn was born and lived in Croydon and enlisted at London. Serving with the 1st Battalion Connaught Rangers, he was killed in action on 26 April 1915, aged 23 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of James and Emma Lawn, of 22 Westbury Road, Croydon, and husband of Ethel Mary King (formerly Lawn) of 17 Cresswell Road, South Norwood, London.
