Pair: Guardsman N. A. Wilkinson, Welsh Guards, who was severely burned as a result of the attack on the Sir Galahad during the Falklands War

General Service 1962, 1 clasp, Northern Ireland (24441594 Gdsm, WG); South Atlantic 1982, with rosette (24441594 Gdsm., WG) some minor contact wear and edge bruising, otherwise good very fine (2) £2000-2500

Sold with a copy of a letter on Buckingham Palace headed paper addressed to Guardsman N. A. Wilkinson from Lieutenant Colonel John Winter (Equerry to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales), dated 16.7.1982, stating: ‘The Prince of Wales was delighted when you wrote to him about the three of you at Halton and his visit today was as a direct result of your letter. You get full marks for initiative! It was a marvellous visit and I hope it did something to cheer you and the others up.’

Walking Tall, by Simon Weston, which includes a captioned photograph of Guardsman Wilkinson alongside Weston at the Falklands parade in December 1982, being inspected by the Prince of Wales.
