K.P.M. London Gazette 2 January 1912.
Recommendation states: ‘Edward Victor Collins, Commissioner of Police. Gold Coast. Has an excellent record. Rendered special services in connection with outbreaks of bubonic and pneumonic plague.’
Edward Victor Collins was lost aboard the Elder Dempster Lines S.S. Abosso, 24 April 1917, when the ship was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine 180 West by North from the Fastnet. 65 passengers and crew were lost, including Collins. A duplicate K.P.M. was claimed by wife in September 1919 to replace the original which was lost with her husband on the Abosso. With copied research.
