Auction Catalogue
George V (1910-1936), Halfcrown, 1922, a uniface squeeze in lead of the reverse die, as issued for currency, 32.64g (cf. ESC 769; cf. S 4021A). Good fine, perhaps made from a forger’s die; a curious and interesting item £30-50
Many lead forgeries were put into circulation in the 1920s and 1930s. It may be this is a forger’s ‘trial’ of his handiwork
