GREEK COINAGE, Islands off Thrace, Thasos, Tetradrachm, c. 411-340, wreathed head of bearded Dionysos left, rev. Herakles, clad in lion skin, kneeling right in archer's stance, drawing bow, Phrygian hat to right, all in linear square, 15.17g/12h (West, NNM 40, 1929, –; unpublished in the standard literature, cf. Le Rider, Thasiennes 23; SNG Copenhagen 1022 [reverse symbol]). Some porosity in reverse field, otherwise good very fine and toned, fine classical style £1,000-1,500
