Stanley Graham Wilson was born in Walton, Liverpool, on 11 April 1896. A Traveller’s Assistant by occupation, he enlisted into the Royal Marines as a Recruit at the Depot, Deal, on 31 July 1913. As a Private in the Royal Marine Brigade, he served at Ostend, 27-31 August 1914 and at Dunkirk and the defence of Antwerp, 19 September-12 October 1914. He then served in the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force to the Dardanelles, April-September 1915. Wilson served on the battleship Albion, April-May 1916 and on the depot ship Blake, June 1916-August 1918. Post-war he was employed as an Assistant Printer and served on a number of warships, including the battleship Queen Elizabeth, October 1924-May 1926. He was pensioned ashore in April 1935. In 1960 he was awarded the I.S.M.

Sold with the recipient’s original Certificates of Service, with envelope; Royal Marines Printer’s History Sheets; Certificate of Discharge; other papers relating to his discharge and pension; Sir John French’s Despatches, booklet re, the Defence of Antwerp; photographs, and copied research.
