M.S.M. London Gazette 3 June 1918. ‘Sjt., Ind. Unattd. List’ ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Forces in Egypt.’

Robert G. Bruce attested for the Black Watch at Perth, on 10 September 1907. Posted to the 2nd Battalion, he served in India. From there he landed in Egypt on 1 November 1914. Some time prior to landing, due to the lack of qualified staff, Bruce was attached to the Corps of Military Staff Clerks, Indian Unattached List. Following on from this he received a double issue of the 1914-15 Star. For his wartime services with the I.U.L. Bruce was awarded the M.S.M. He was transferred to the Army Lass ‘Z’ Reserve on 2 October 1919. A rare award of the Indian Army M.S.M. to a European; possibly only awarded as such on nine occasions. With copied research.
