George William Pankhurst, from Brisbane, Queensland, attested into the Australian Imperial Forces on 31 March 1917, aged 23 years, and was posted to the 12th Machine Gun Company, 15th Reinforcements. He embarked for Europe on the S.S. Indarra at Melbourne on 26 November 1917.
