Catherine Simpson Ritchie was born in the Parish of Midlothian on 29 July 1911. She enrolled into the Scottish Branch of the British Red Cross Society on 14 February 1939 and enlisted into the Army on 12 May 1940.
The medals to Ritchie with the recipient’s Soldier’s Service and Pay Book; medal forwarding slip - marked for the award of the Defence and War Medals; B.R.C.S. Scottish Branch Enrolment Certificate and Uniform Permit; B.R.C.S. Proficiency Voucher for the Red Cross First Aid Proficiency Cross, 1940; National Insurance Card; Ration Book; Clothing Coupon Book (3); Military Officer Railway Ticket (2) ‘Eskbank to Muir of Ord’, 1943; a postcard addressed to Miss Ritchie, 1931 and a postcard photograph of nurses and ambulance workers.
