John Demain volunteered as a Corporal from the 53rd Regiment to the 41st Regiment, arriving with the 41st as a Private in April 1822. He was promoted to Corporal in 1825 and to Sergeant in February 1828, reverting to Private again in August 1829.
John Demain, born Skipton, enlisted into 53rd Foot May 1810, served in India from November 1811. Transferred to 41st Foot at Madras in August 1822. Discharged as Sergeant in October 1834. Sold with copy papers.
