Niven Lawson Peregrine was called to the Bar, Middle Temple, July 1886. Appointed a District Commissioner in the Gold Coast in October 1888. Appointed Acting Sheriff, 1890/91; Member of the Census Commission 1891; Crown Prosecutor, Western Provinces 18945; President of Accra Town Council 1898; Chief Civil Officer, Base of Operations, Ashanti Field Force 1900; Commissioner Central Province 1901; Acting Judge 1902. Peregrine left the Gold Coast Civil Service in 1907.
