James Maxwell was born, lived and enlisted at Dumfries. Serving in the 7th Battalion Cameron Highlanders, he was killed in action on 21 February 1918, aged 21 years. He was buried in the Windmill British Cemetery, Monchy-le-Preux. He was the son of John and Agnes Maxwell of 81 English Street, Dumfries.
George Adam Russell was born, lived and enlisted at Leeds, W. Yorkshire. Serving in the 7th Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, he was killed in action on 25 September 1915, aged 34 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial. He was the son of George Edwin and Harriet Russell of 3 Walford Terrace, Nickelby Road, Leeds and husband of Emily Beckwith (formerly Russell) of 33 Greyhound Place, York Road, Leeds.
George McBride was born in Kerrick, Kirkcudbright and lived and enlisted at Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright. Serving with the 1/5th Battalion King’s Own Scottish Borderers, he was killed in action, Dardanelles, 12 July 1915, aged 20 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. He was the son of George and Agnes McBride of Front Street, Auchencairn, Castle Douglas.
Harry Bland was born in and enlisted at Darlington, Co. Durham. Serving with the 1st Battalion Scottish Rifles, he was killed in action on 18 July 1915. He was buried in the Erquinghem-Lys Churchyard Extension, Nord, France.
