Three: A. C. Dunn, Coastal Life Saving Corps, late London Fire Brigade
Defence Medal 1939-45, in its original card forwarding box addressed to ‘Mr. A. C. Dunn, 22 Harwich Street, Whitstable, Kent’; Coronation 1911, London Fire Brigade issue (Fireman A. C. Dunn); Coastal Life Saving Corps Long Service, E.II.R. (Alfred Charles Dunn), in its Royal Mint case of issue, extremely fine (3) £180-220
Alfred Charles Dunn was born in Whitstable, Kent in April 1886 and joined the London Fire Brigade in October 1909, his service record confirming subsequent appointments at Greenwich, Poplar and Wandsworth, and the award of a commendation at the latter station on 20 July 1910 (’See Brigade Order No. 2 of this date’), in addition to his entitlement to the Coronation Medal 1911. The same source also confirms that he resigned in December 1911, ‘stating that he had accepted a situation under the Deputy Harbour Master at Newhaven’, the commencement, no doubt, of his association with the Rocket Life Saving Apparatus Volunteers; sold with copied Fire Brigade service record.
