Private Samuel William Barnett was born in Birmingham, enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and lived at New Bolsover, Derbyshire. He was killed in action France and Flanders 20 September 1914 whilst serving with the 2nd battalion Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.
