Frederick Robert Wilson was born in Dublin on 20 November 1835. He served at the Gold Coast during the Ashanti war of 1873-4, in charge of the General Hospital at Connor’s Hill (Medal). He was promoted to Surgeon Major in July 1875, and retired with hon. rank of Brigade Surgeon in April 1881. He died at Perth on 9 January 1892.
